Guided Sea Kayaking, Bay of Islands, New Zealand

.

Seasonal kayaking trips operate from the Lodge located on Opua Harbour, Bay of Islands, New Zealand. A typical trip, depending on weather and tides, includes visiting mangrove forests, historic Russell township, or a paddle past the late Austrian artist Frederick Hundertwasser's Waikare inlet property.

Artist Frederick Hundertwasser lived in a remote cottage on Waikino Road. A child of nature he has planted great quantities of trees and has left behind beautiful examples of his unique architecture in Kawakawa township.

The Waikare Inlet runs many miles into the land with bays and creeks. It has an entirely different character from the rest of the Bay of Islands. The sides of the inlet are shallow, liberally sprinkled with oyster farms and plenty of marine and birdlife to view. It is perfectly suited to exploring by kayak.

Bay of Islands Sea Kayaking trips are suitable for beginners of any age and are led by an experienced guide.

This trip is only available to people staying at Pukeko's Nest.
